    AMIGOS SIN FRONTERAS - Description

     Goals:

To help parents (especially those who arrive after the orientation sessions, and who do not speak English) get a basic understanding of our school system, ESOL program, and District services.

    •   To welcome and support newcomers, especially Hispanic students, as they adjust to attending school in a new country.
    •   To develop students’ intercultural understanding by participating in our Buddy System.
    •   To help students improve their language skills in Spanish through a real-world task.
    •   To help newcomers learn or improve their English skills.

    Description of Project

This activity was carried out as a final exam for the 2013 IB Spanish B SL 1. The task was to translate or update important information to help Spanish Speaking parents and Students navigate our school system in order for them to make informed decisions, take advantage of the multiple programs T.L Hanna offers, and get involved. Students are also to volunteer as buddies for our newcomers. This activity will give students the opportunity to interact, integrate and build social bonds as well as participating actively in a multicultural environment.
