Weather and ELearning
Decisions about school closing, if deemed necessary, will be made at the appropriate time to ensure student and staff safety.
If schools are closed students will have eLearning Day lessons that will extend learning during inclement weather. An eLearning Day simply means that students in grades k-12 can use their Chromebooks for “electronic learning” or “eLearning” while school is out. Students who complete their lessons during a school cancellation will be counted present for the day(s) they are out. This will allow District Five to count a school cancellation day as a school day and not have to make that day up later in the school year.
eLearning Day Preparation
District Five sends home chrome books when eLearning lessons may be needed to be prepared for a school closing. This does NOT mean that school is canceled, but will allow Chromebooks to be at home “just in case” school is canceled. Directions for lesson completion and lesson turn-in will be provided by teachers.

When will this support be available?
