Hello and welcome to sixth grade!
I love to read and it is my wish that all of my students become great readers. I have worked in education for over fifteen years in various positions from elementary school to the university setting. My passion is for middle schoolers as they transition from children into young adults.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns via email or through the school office. It is my hope that every student will be successful and I will work with you and your student to ensure that he or she has a wonderful sixth grade year.

I hope that everyone already loves to read, but for those who haven't been overly fond of reading in the past, it is my goal to help you find enjoyment in reading. We will be reading a wide variety of genres this year including myths, legends, poems, and realistic and science fiction. We will learn vocabulary words and reading terms and there will be a test each Friday on content covered during the week. For Writing class we will follow the writing process as we create many different pieces. Students will have writing homework most nights and will have vocabulary words to learn each week.
I look forward to working with you this year. I have high expectations for each of my students, but I am willing to do all that I can to help you succeed. I am available to help students before school and afterschool on an individual basis if time is arranged in advance. There is NO EXTRA CREDIT given in the sixth grade. Students are expected to complete the work assigned and to turn all work in on time. Let's work together to make 2016-2017 the best yet!
