How Can I Help My Child Learn?
Visit the guidance office to get a password for Parent Portal; check grades frequently to stay informed about your child's academic progress.
Visit the classroom, school, and district websites to stay informed about current happenings.
Check your child's agenda daily to ensure homework assignments are completed; teachers can sign these so you know they are correct. The agenda can be used as a communication tool between school and home (or email teachers to stay in touch). Effective communication is the key to a successful partnership between school and home. We share a common goal--the best possible education for your student.
Provide a quiet study area and time to complete homework assignments.
Read with your child. Watch tutorial videos and play practice math games at www.khanacademy.org
Ask your child daily, "What was the most interesting thing you learned at school?" Encourage your child to ask questions when he/she needs help. See an overview of content standards.
Take the learning styles inventory to find out how your child learns best.
Sign in at the front office to visit your child's learning environment.
Be sure the front office has your most current email and phone number on file so you will recieve important information from the school.
Thank you for your involvement in your child's education.
