The 8^thGrade Technology course builds on the skills students will need to function in today’s global technological society. This course requires the IB student learn to use, and apply information technology effectively as a means to access, process, and communicate information, and to solve problems. The students will learn to recognize the parts of a system, input, processing, control, and output. With different application software and system software, the students will use the design cycle to develop their problem-solving, critical and creative thinking skills to create products/solutions with respect for others. The students will identify, access, evaluate, and acknowledge a wide range of information sources. Course topics include web design, digital photography, video production, graphic design, and game design. Course application software includes Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Power Point, Excel, Publisher, School Fusion web page, email, discussions, Wiki blogs, Wiki web pages, Gimp, Movie Maker, Paint, Pencil, Scratch, and Alice. Course systems software includes operating systems, networking systems. Course materials include computer hardware and software, digital camera, scanner, printer, video camera, all in one headset.
