About Our School
Southwood Academy of the Arts is a public magnet school for the Visual and Performing Arts in Anderson Five and is currently in the third year of operation. High school students in grades 9-12 travel from their home schools to SAA for arts classes. Transportation is provided to the Academy from the two high schools in the district at no charge to the student. Classes meet daily for one semester.

General Requirements and Process
SAA is an audition-based school. Most courses require an audition to attend. Please review the second page of the audition guide for course audition information.Following the audition, a letter will be sent to the auditioning student at their home school with acceptance information.All students must have maintained a C average or better in all courses the previous school year to be accepted. If a student was in ISS 3 or more times, Suspended, or Expelled, the student is not eligible to attend Southwood Academy.Guidance departments will receive one list of accepted students for registration purposes.
