Dr. Addis has lived in the Anderson Five school zone for 40 years, and has worked as a teacher, counselor, coach, principal, central office administrator and state education agency director for 42 years in both South Carolina and Georgia. He is currently Chairman of the National Dropout Prevention Center, Vice Chair of Successful Practices Network Board of Directors, and a partner with King-Cooper & Associates, a Superintendent Search Firm.
Dr. Addis is the author of numerous publications and research reports on dropout prevention, and is the recipient of the Crystal Star Award for national impact on dropout preventon.
Dr. Addis is a graduate of Furman University and holds graduate degrees from Clemson University and South Carolina State University. He is married to Martha Addis, a retired educator, and has one daughter, Kate who is an attorney. His hobbies include boating and yard work.
