Hi!  I'm Samantha Hembree and I've been teaching for 16 years at Calhoun Academy of the Arts from 2007 to current.  Before venturing into the area of Special Education, I taught with an amazing group of ladies in fourth grade for 8 years.  During the 2014-2015 school year I represented Calhoun as the Reading Coach while completing coursework to gain my add-on certification in Special Education: Learning Disabilities.  I began the 2015-2016 school year as one of the special education support teachers at Calhoun and continue to serve as the primary resource support teacher.  I enjoy my current position and love working with students ranging from Kindergarten through 5th grade.  

I have been married for seventeen years to my wonderful husband Kenneth Hembree.  We live in Townville, SC with our three amazing children, Maddy (age 12), Jase (age 7) and Aiken (age 3).  Maddy is a seventh grader at Southwood Academy of the Arts and loves visual arts.  Jase is a second grader this year and is loving life as a Calhoun Gator.  Aiken will follow his big sister and brother's footsteps too and become our last Calhoun Gator in a few years.  As a family, we LOVE living the country life with our four dogs: Princess, Ginger, Jax  and Bella, one cat: Snowy.  We love spending time together as a family and doing most everything outdoors.  I am a middle sibling and have one older brother and two younger sisters.  My older brother and his family live in New Braunfels, Texas.  My mother and sisters all live in the upstate, not far from me!  I am also an aunt to a wonderful bunch of nieces and nephews!  The girls are Rileigh, Kinsleigh, Kylee and Delilah.  The boys are Justin, Braylyn and Carter.  Our families love to get together and let all of the kids play together.  On hot, sunny days you can find all of us enjoying the sunshine and swimming in the pool at Nanny and Poppie's house!
