Mr. Cecil Bonner is a graduate of Gardner- Webb University earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Information Technology in 1995. He completed his post-graduate work at the United Sates Sports Academy earning a Master’s degree in Sports Science and Specialist degree in Educational Administration from South Carolina State University. Currently, Mr. Bonner is a doctoral candidate at Liberty University in the Educational Leadership program.

Background

Prior to joining the administrative team at the Anderson Institute of Technology, Mr. Bonner served in several positions for Anderson School District Five including Business Education Teacher (2005-2012), Assistant Director at Anderson Five Career Campus (2012-2013), Principal of Anderson Five Career Center (2014-2019). Mr. Bonner and faculty were awarded the 2019 Gene Bottoms Pacesetter School Award from the Southern Regional Educational Board for their work in delivering quality instructions. Mr. Bonner developed and implemented Strategic Excellence Educator Development (SEED) initiative to transform the culture at A5CC, align perceptions and ultimately impact student outcomes. SEED’s four components are growth mindset, shared decision-making, collaboration and SREB’s Teaching to Lead program.

Responsibilities:

As Assistant Executive Director of Administration, Mr. Bonner supports the Executive Director in developing, implementing, and managing the annual CATE Local Plan for AIT, the forty (40) South Carolina Department of Education (SDE) Assurances, and other mandates required by the SDE for local, state and federal funding for approval. Supports the Executive Director with preparing and monitoring the AIT budgets – local, state and federal monies. Mr. Bonner works with appropriate staff to maintain a current inventory of facility, equipment, tools, supplies, and books; he takes precautions to protect and maintain facilities, equipment, and materials; he submits work orders as needed oversees the operation of the facilities here at AIT.

Personal:

Mr. Bonner is married to Helen Bonner. They have three children Brenton Bonner (son), Alexandria Bonner and StellaRose Bonner. Mr. Bonner also serves on the Anderson Chamber and United Way African American Leadership board. Mr. Bonner is a passionate educator who believes in cultivating a climate of academic optimism in which each child is challenged to achieve his/her greatest potential.
