Mrs. Mary Beth Carpenter

Hello!

My name is Mary Beth Carpenter, and I am thrilled to be the strings teacher here at Calhoun. I graduated in May of 2020 (in the midst of a pandemic!) from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Music Education in Instrumental Music. I live in Piedmont, SC with my husband, Gary, who is a middle school band director. My love of music stems from growing up with musical family members - both my older sisters were in band throughout school, my mom sang in the church choir, and my mom would make up songs about most anything! I started playing the piano in 3rd grade and the viola in 4th grade, and I have been playing ever since. I am a member of Mt. Airy Baptist church, where I play in the praise band. Outside of music, I love traveling, reading, Broadway musicals, dogs, coffee, tea, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
