I am Frankie Moorhead and I teach second grade at Calhoun Academy of the Arts.I am a native Floridian who moved to Anderson sixteen years ago. I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University, with a BS in Elementary Education. I received a Master’s Degree in Reading from Clemson University. I taught third grade for nine years. This is my fifteenth year teaching second grade. Although I enjoy teaching all subject areas, I have a heart for writing. As a child I always wrote, from poems to stories. It was an opportunity to express my feelings and be creative. I get great pleasure from hearing students share their creativity through writing. I love children and the learning experiences we encounter together each day, for this reason I have been teaching for twenty-three years. With losses and challenges I have faced I have learned to take life as it comes and to be strong. I know one of my greatest blessings is my daughter, Blakely. She will turn twelve in September. She is in sixth grade here at Calhoun. She brings me so much joy daily. I cherish the time I spend with my family. We are actively involved in our church community of St. Mary of the Angels. I teach Kindergarten Religious Education classes. We enjoy Clemson football-Go Tigers! A great deal of my summer vacation is spent in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida with my family. My hobbies are sunbathing, movies, shopping, spending time with friends, going out to dinner, and spending time with Blakely, and our two dogs Minnie and Sandie. We enjoy going camping to different places in our camper and just spending time outdoors.
I thrive on facing new challenges each day and living life to its fullest. I feel that my life has been blessed and enriched in so many ways. My belief is that life is what we make of it; laugh a little, be happy, stay positive and enjoy the moments. This is why I cherish every moment with my family, as well as trust in and give thanks to God daily.
