Welcome to Mrs. Bracken's Page! I am married to Travis Bracken and have 5 kids! We are also foster parents and just recently adopted from Ethiopia, Africa.  I am very involved in my church as a worship leader and working with the youth ministry. We are also sponsorship coordinators for a carepoint in Ethiopia. I love Calhoun, and I love teaching. I love to sing and dance and have fun with my students! We enjoy doing a lot of games, group activities, and creative and innovative lessons to make learning exciting and fun. I am a huge supporter of the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, GA. (http://www.ronclarkacademy.com) Come by and visit and see what makes Fifth Grade and CALHOUN ACADEMY OF THE ARTS such a great place to be!

arty  My philosophy of education is that learning should be fun. Students need to be actively engaged in the learning process while the teacher is the facilitator of learning. Lessons should be creative, innovative and full of excitement and energy. High expectations are key and students need to be focused and motivated to learn through a variety of techniques while using technology and arts integration. Using Ron Clark's Essential 55 and Calhoun's "Shine Bright. Be Different. motto", students understand the rules and use manners and respect to achieve success. Education is all about parents, teachers and students working together. While students are at Calhoun and after they leave my class, I have faith that they will have the skills they need to be successful, not only in middle school and high school, but in LIFE! Students at Calhoun feel safe and enjoy the inviting working environment. They work together as a family. With our tribes, students feel a sense of belonging, which then promotes school spirit as they learn to encourage and cheer on one another.
