Grading Scale: Grades for this course will be reflective of a student’s level of mastery of the content.

    ·         65% - Major Assessments (tests, projects, etc.) i

    ·         15% - Daily assignments (homework, worksheets, formative quizzes, etc.)   Completing these assignments is critical to a student’s success on a major assessment.

    ·         10% - The mid-term exam and final exam will be weighted at 10% each semester.  These exams identify a student’s level of mastery over course of the semester.

    .         10% - Participation

Retakes: Retakes for tests are available to any student who requests a retake.  It is the responsibility of the student to conference with a teacher regarding a retake and to do the necessary work to prepare him/her for a retake.  Students will need to arrange transportation if the scheduled retake occurs after school.  If a student is to request a retake, it is in his/her best interest to arrange the retake soon after (within 3 days) the initial assessment.  Retaining content knowledge will be difficult if a student waits beyond one instructional unit to attempt a retake.  Retakes are typically only successful if a student conferences with a teacher or makes the effort to review the material prior to the retake.  Students will only be allowed one retake per assessment

Late Work: Assignments are expected to be turned in on time.  Late work will be accepted at a 10% penalty; however, work that is not completed on time hinders the student’s learning process.  Completing work when it is assigned keeps the student on pace for learning the content necessary to be successful on a major assessment, which is the largest portion of a student’s grade.  A student should understand that turning in late work near the end of the 9 weeks will not significantly impact his/her grade.
