Cosmetology can be a challenging profession, but I can testify that through hard work and a positive attitude it can lead to a very rewarding career.  It all started for me as a junior in high school when I started the cosmetology program offered at the Abbeville Career Center.  In 1987, I earned my SC State Board certified license and began working as an independent contractor until 1992.  At this point, I had the confidence to open my own salon, which I operated until 2005.
After selling my business I went back to school to become a Registered Instructor of Cosmetology.  I began my teaching career teaching and worked as a college instructor at Greenville Technical and Virginia College working with students anywhere from 18 to 58 years old.  These students have very diverse life experiences and I feel lucky to have had the chance to both teach and learn from them.
As much as I cherished the experience of working with college students, I cannot express how excited I was by the opportunity to develop and lead a high school program in Anderson County.  I have called Anderson County home for the past seventeen years and I look forward to providing high school juniors and seniors with the same opportunity given to me 30 years ago.

I have worked for  Anderson 5 school district now 8 years and year after year I watch some of the most talented students successfully pass their board exams and become licensed. Wow A5CC Cosmetology has come alive in the past 8 years and to watch my students succeed is the reason I teach today.
