Classes:  Inclusion ELA and Math 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
Credentials:  I graduated from Furman University with a BA degree in Special Education.  I continued with my education at the University of Alabama where I received a Master's degree in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  I have been teaching for 18 years and have taught in South Carolina and Connecticut.  Throughout my career I have taught on all grade levels and in a variety of settings.  Since being at Southwood I have discovered how much I enjoy working with middle school aged students!  I look forward to a great year.
What is inclusion and what does an inclusion teacher do?
Inclusion is an educational approach where all students learn together.
As an inclusion teacher I go into the general education classroom to assist the teacher in meeting the needs of all students.  I assist the teacher by co-teaching, working with small groups, and planning and accommodating work. In this role I am able to not only assist students academically but also build relationships that will foster greater learning and growth while students are at Soutwood.

    How can I help?

This year I will work with your child in the regular classroom to ensure that information is presented in a way that meets each learning style.  At any time, if you have questions or feel that we may need to discuss additional ideas, please contact me and we will work together to make sure that your son or daughter has the opportunity to be successful.
     GOOGLE Drive
I am excited this year to have iPads and Chromebooks for students to use in classes during the school day.  Google Drive is a wonderful tool to assist with organization.   It is a web based application that allows students create a document in place of using a notebook and pencil.  Information is automatically saved and can be accessed on any computer with internet connection.  With the 1 to 1 technology initiative for the 2015-2016 school year, I am very excited to work with the students on utilizing technology as a means of organization and productivity.
