• Welcome to Speech & Language!!!

My name is Mandy Lee.  I am excited to be part of the South Fant family.  This is my first year to serve as a Speech Language Pathologist in Anderson School District 5.  I have previous experience from another school district and early intervention services. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Columbia College and Master of Arts degree in Communication Disorders from Appalachian State University.
What is Speech and Language Therapy?
Speech and Language therapy offers a wide variety of services.  Speech refers to articulation therapy.  Articulation is how we use our lips and tongue to produce sounds.   Intelligibility is how well we understand another person's speech.  Language includes the vocabulary and sentences we use to communicate.  It involves following directions, answering questions, and participating in conversation.  Therapy at the preschool typically looks a lot like playing.  Children at this age learn best during play.
Other services within the scope of the SLP (Speech Language Pathologist) include swallowing therapy and pragmatic therapy.
