I believe every child can succeed with the guidance of supportive parents, teachers, and administrators. This year students at Whitehall Elementary will engage in numerous learning activities. Varied instructional strategies, assignments, and assessments will be implemented as teachers focus on the South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards. It is my goal to provide any support needed to ensure all students are successful.
This is my 13th year as instructional coach at Whitehall Elementary. I earned a BA in Elementary Education from Lander University and a MA in Elementary Education from Clemson University. I have been an educator in South Carolina for 32 years. My experiences of being a self-contained classroom teacher of Grades 1, 2, and 3, a departmentalized classroom teacher of Grade 8 Math and Science, and a special programs pull-out teacher of Grades 1 – 6 Reading and Math prepared me for the position of instructional coach.
My main role as instructional coach is to increase student achievement. Some of my responsibilities include:
·keeping teachers informed of current research,
·providing professional development opportunities for teachers,
·analyzing assessment data,
·planning lessons with teachers,
·modeling instructional strategies,
·observing lessons and providing feedback to teachers,
·managing instructional materials, and
·analyzing student progress with teachers, principals, and parents.
