All About Mrs. Maness
My name is Megan Maness.
I grew up in Port Huron, Michigan.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood and Middle School Reading and Social Studies.
I earned my Masters in Literacy from Furman University in 2011. When I was a child, reading and writing were the two things I ABSOLUTELY hated about school. It wasn't until I had a teacher in middle school that showed interest in working with me in reading that my love and passion began. I knew going into my Masters program that if I showed a passion for helping students read, they would become motivated to read.
I loved to South Carolina in 2006 with my husband Brian. I was lucky enough to earn a second grade teaching position at Midway Elementary School. I taught there for six years.
I transferred to North Pointe Elementary School when it opened. I taught fourth grade for two years and third grade for two years. I have been the Reading Coach ever since!
I have two beautiful children, Grayson (who attends North Pointe) and Nora (who will join us next year). We love to play soccer, run, swim, go hiking, ride rollercoasters, visit or family in Michigan, and ride bikes on the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
