• I have been an educator for more than 25 years teaching students from pre-k to 10th grade in both public and private schools. Teaching was not my first career, however, as I spent a number of years as a writer and editor for newspapers -- which drives my love of writing both with and for my students. I have one published children's book, Zero the Hero Saves the Day and am working on the sequel ... Zero the Hero Gains Power! I am excited to be in Anderson 5 school district which provides challenges and support for teachers as well as students to do and be their very best. At home, I am mom to three children, a future teacher named Alyssa who is finishing her work at Coastal Carolina University; a future horticulturalist named Charlie who lives in Savannah; and future graphic artist named Grace who is a middle school student in Westminster. Fur children Gretchen and Poppy round out the family.

Your child will be learning a lot of new information and skills this school year. Second grade is a very important grade level for reading and math. I know if we work together, your child will have a very successful school year. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. My email address is denisesavidge@anderson5.net, or you can reach me by calling the school office at 260-5125. You are also always welcome to contact me through the Remind app, write notes and send them in your child’s communication folder, or we can schedule a conference if you would rather speak in person. I will do my best to respond to notes, calls, and emails promptly but it may be the following day depending on meetings and/or unforeseen events. I am looking forward to a great school year! Thank you for your support at home!
