A5 Board Approves $166.2M Balanced Budget with Employee Raises, Student Support; No Millage Increase for Third Straight Year

The Anderson School District Five Board of Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 General Fund Budget during its June 9, 2026 Board meeting.

The balanced budget includes a $2,000 increase to all salary schedules, step increases for eligible employees, and additional instructional services and resources to support students across the district. The budget totals $166.2 million, representing a 3.09% increase over the previous fiscal year.

For the third consecutive year, the budget was developed without increasing millage.

Additional investments in the FY 2026-2027 budget include two Multi-Lingual Specialists, five elementary Math Interventionists, additional student support personnel at Robert Anderson Middle School, and a reduction in out-of-district tuition to $3,000.

"This budget reflects what matters most to Anderson Five: our students, and the people who serve them each day," said Superintendent Dr. Brenda Kelley. "I am grateful to our Board of Trustees for supporting a budget that invests in our employees, strengthens support for students, and continues to be mindful of the community we serve."

Board Chair Sandra Leverette thanked district leadership and staff for their work throughout the budget development process.

"Our goal is always to do what is best for students while supporting the employees who make Anderson Five such a special place," Chairwoman Leverette said. "I believe this budget helps us do both, and I appreciate the work that went into developing it."

Additional budget details are available in the district's FY 2026-2027 Budget Highlights document (linked below this article).

The FY 2026-2027 General Fund Budget will now move to the Anderson County Board of Education for final approval on June 15, 2026.
